P!nk donates $500,000 to help stop Australian bushfires

American singer P!nk donates $500,000 to help stop Australian bushfires.

Following the long-lasting and devastating bushfires that have rampaged Australia in recent months, the consequences of this disaster have had terrible effects on the entire ecosystem in general.

The fires raging now started in November and have now burned roughly 15 million acres as they spread throughout the country. At least 18 people have died and more than half a billion animals have been killed from the bushfires. More than 1,000 homes have been destroyed and many people from New South Wales and Victoria were evacuated from their homes on New Year’s Eve.

The smoke from these fires, more than a 100, has spread throughout nearby cities and hospitals making the air quality so poor that it’s considered 23 times higher than what is considered hazardous in some areas.

P!nk, is no stranger to helping out others: In 2017 she donated the same amount to hurricane victims. She tweeted this about the bushfires:

“I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires. I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz.”

Although Australia has always had disturbing bushfires, scientists claim that the fire conditions last year were without parallel on several fronts. The fire conditions of our lives today are fundamentally different and worse in many ways as compared to fires experienced in the past.
