103 people more were reported dead in China by the Hubei health authority on Monday to coronavirus infection. This brings the global tally of corona related deaths to over 1000. An additional 2097 new cases have also been registered at Hubei, taking the infected count in the region to 31728 people.
The Chinese government is facing intense criticism over its transparency and the speed by which they are handling the epidemic. Reports from state television suggest that two health officials in the region have been removed. Health commission head Liu Yingzi and party chief Zhang Jin are the officials who were taken from the post.
Data from WHO tells us that the deadly disease has reached over two dozen countries. Over 40000 people are infected globally as of now. An advance team from the WHO has reached China to assist the government to contain the outbreak.
Meanwhile, in the US, the first batch of Americans evacuated from Wuhan has been cleared of infection risk. All their test results came back negative for corona infection.
